Introducing: LORDE

16 year-old singer-songwriter LORDE is from New Zealand and has took over the music scene with her song "Royals" earlier this year. With "Royals" not only topping several charts in many countries including her home land New Zealand, its currently sitting at #3 on The Billboard Hot 100. She also became the first female solo act to top the Billboard Alternative Songs chart since Tracy Bonham in 1996. When public hear music that has a unique sound and lyrical content, you can't expect to not ask questions. I thinks that's the case here, people heard it for the first time, loved it and wanted to know more about her. You won't be able to categorize this as a typical pop track, its very experimental. The song is influenced by indie pop, pop, ambient, and blues. It incorporates different genres to create a new sound.

Back in March, she released her EP "The Love Club" on iTunes. This is the singers first musical release since being discovered at the age of 12 by A&R scout Scott Maclachlan, who signed her to Universal Records. The EP was a commercial success debuting at #2 in New Zealand and Australia. It also peaked at #23 on The Billboard 200 Album Chart, selling 60,000 copies in the US alone.

LORDE co-wrote and produced all of the music on the EP with New Zealand musician-songwriter-producer Joel Little. Just like her debut single "Royals", this body of work received great reviews amongst music critics. The songs lyrical content and LORDE's vocal performances became a hot topic for them. Other music critics and music bloggers like myself compared her to artists like Sky Ferreira, Florence & the Machine and Lana Del Rey.

LORDE whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor is preparing for the release of her debut album "Pure Heroine", which scheduled to hit stores and digital retailers on September 30th.

With her having that amazing voice and writing talents, you wouldn't think or guess she's only 16 years old. This girl definitely has a long career ahead of her, if you thought "The Love Club" was good, just wait for that debut album. I'm ready to be slayed are you?
