Gabriella Cilmi's new album "The Sting" to drop November 4th

Three years after her second album "Ten", Australian-Italian singer-songwriter Gabriella Cilmi is back and plans to release her third album "The Sting" on November 4th via Sweetness Tunes. Following 2009's "Ten", she parted ways with her management and label Island Records.

Talking about the new album Cilmi says: "I was searching for a sound that reflected the way I felt inside, which was quite vulnerable, and traumatised. I wanted it to sound the way Italian neo-realist photographs look, that post-war, ruined glamour which is really gritty and heart-breaking, she continued. I was listening to a lot of Trip Hop, that 90s Bristol sound, Portishead and Tricky. But also singer-songwriters I had always loved, Neil Young, John Martyn. And old soul records, Bessie Smith, Otis Redding. It all went in there".

This album is a departure from both look and electronic sound that was heard on her last album. She said Portishead, Neil Young, and Otis Redding were the inspirations for the new album. Its expected to be more soulful and less synthetic, which is the total opposite from the electro background that "Ten" had.

Earlier this year, Cilmi announced the upcoming release "The Sting" with the teaser buzz track "Sweeter In History". The first official single from the project is title track "The Sting" (available on iTunes now), the second single "Symmetry" will be released on November 11th.
