New Music: Neon Hitch - 301 to Paradise [Mixtape]

Before the 2013, Neon Hitch gave fans a taste of what she's been working on in the studio with her new single "Some Like It Hot". The track was planned to apart of her new musical project. The British singer-songwriter announced she was going to release a new mixtape titled "301 to Paradise" at the top of the year and she did. This is  second free collection of music released from Neon, with the EP "Happy Neon" in early 2013.

The EP consists of six tracks, that were produced by Kinetics and One Love. New York-based duo Kinetics features on the catchy first single "Some Like It Hot". She took inspiration from her idol Marilyn Monroe. It also includes jazzy unique version of Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" and she pays homage to Monroe's 1959 film on "Some Like It Hot" with sound bites from the late Hollywood legend.
"It's kind of like an audio movie", Hitch told OK! magazine. "It's very inspired by Marilyn Monroe. And it's a mixture of my travels, my story, and Marilyn's story. It's partially fictional, but it's based on a true story. It's very gypsified".
"301 to Paradise" serves as another preview of what will hear for her horrible delayed debut album scheduled to be released this summer via Warner Bros. Records. Neon has been with the label for some quite time now and still hasn't been able to put out her album. Hopefully they've finally gotten there shit together, to where will see the release of it this year.

The mixtape is available for free download by entering your e-mail on Neon Hitch's official website.

New Music: Christina Perri - I Believe

Christina Perri is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album "Head or Heart", which is set to hit stores and digital retailers on March 11th via Atlantic Records. On New Year's Eve she revealed the album cover, as well as a new track titled "Believe".

4/5

This is the second track we've heard from the album, with "Human" being the first. "I Believe" is a beautiful piano-driven ballad, where she showcases a wide range of emotion in her voice. Not saying I don't like the first single, but this would have been the better choice. This was a great song, can't wait to hear what else she has in store for the album.

You can pre-order her album "Head or Heart" on iTunes now.

Glee's Lea Michele releases piano-ballad "Battlefield"

Glee actress-singer Lea Michele is getting ready to release her debut album "Louder" on March 4th via Columbia Records. She released the first official single "Cannonball" a few weeks ago, now she's released another track titled "Battlefield". The song is apart of an exclusive iTunes countdown for her upcoming album.

3/5

Once again this track was written by Sia, "Battlefield" is a piano ballad where Lea delivers an emotional and powerful vocal. Wasn't crazy for "Cannonball" and honestly I'm not in love with this either, but it does show more vulnerability.

You can pre-order her album "Louder" on iTunes now, you'll get a download of "Battlefield".

New Music: Neon Hitch - Some Like It Hot

British singer-songwriter Neon Hitch has released her new single titled "Some Like It Hot". The track serves as the first single from her upcoming mixtape "301 To Paradise", which will be released on January 3rd through her official website.

4/5

The track and the entire mixtape was produced by Kinetics & One Love. "Some Like It Hot" is what Neon described 'Vintage Gypsy-Pop'. Its has addictive production, with some amazing vocals. Like many of her songs, this could be a hit with the right push behind it. Sadly, of course that won't happen due to the piss poor decisions made by her record label. Anyway back the Neon. She has a very unique tone she has in her voice, which made me gravitate to her music. This track gets me quite excited to hear the rest of the mixtape. TWO MORE DAYS LEFT.

You can get a copy of the song for free via her Soundcloud.

Stream Kerli's latest EP "Utopia" (OUT NOW)

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Kerli released her latest EP "Utopia" in March of last year. The artwork has an futuristic concept that was created in collaboration by photographer Brian Ziff and artist Natalie Shau, with costuming, hair and make-up done by Kerli herself. The music was made five years following the release of Kerli's 2008 debut album "Love Is Dead". The tracks from this EP were originally intended as Kerli's second album.
"The overall vision for UTOPIA was somewhat of a mix between fantasy, future and ancient China", says Kerli", all of it soaked in a pastel space sauce to capture the uber positive energy of the music".
Check out Kerli's interview with ClevverMusic, where she talks about "Utopia".

Their's seven tracks on the EP, you can listen to all of them below.

Watch Kerli's perform "Love Me or Leave Me" for ClevverMusic.

Overall, all the songs has an positive message and heavily electronic dance-influenced sound. It features feature production by Swedish production duo SeventyEight as well as British producer and DJ Switch. If you've been following Kerli since the beginning, her debut album had a dark pop rock sound. This EP has much more of a bright and uplifting feel to it, "The Lucky Ones" would be the perfect example of that description. "Utopia" was about her search for love and happiness, she said she went through a "huge transformation personally" while writing the music.
